Why Now

The UK is opening up plug-in solar

The government confirmed the plug-in route in its July 2026 response and published the final Interim Product Specification, so the direction is now certain. The enabling law is coming into force on 27 August 2026 and no approved kit yet exists, so the compliant install today is still a CPS-registered electrician with a hardwired connection. Read the full breakdown.

Plug-In Solar Standards Watch

The government confirmed the plug-in route in its July 2026 response and published the final Interim Product Specification. It is coming into force on 27 August 2026, so the compliant install route remains a CPS-registered electrician with a hardwired connection, from around £250.

How It Works

Three steps to your own electricity

The compliant route in the UK is a CPS-registered electrician with a hardwired connection. Typical install time is around two hours and costs from £250.

Buy a kit

Order an EcoFlow STREAM kit online. A complete 800W system includes two panels, a microinverter, and mounting hardware - from £499. Compare the best plug-and-play options.

Mount and connect

Attach panels to your balcony railing, garden fence, or south-facing wall. A CPS-registered electrician then hardwires the system into your consumer unit, the compliant UK route today.

Generate and save

Your system feeds electricity into your home, offsetting what you'd draw from the grid. Watch your bill drop. Understand balcony solar as part of energy resilience.
